Are You Caffeinated?
Like many people I take a dose of coffee immediately after waking. For most of my life, that coffee included caffeine but for the past year I have been decaffeinated in order to minimize the jitter effects.
I’ve recently experimented with introducing caffeine back into the mix and have even introduced energy drinks into my life in moderation. (Side story: Have you had a Jägerbomb yet? Talk about extending the night…)
There is something to be said about caffeine. For me it doesn’t just wake me up and create a much more alert person. I’m convinced it makes me smarter. What I mean by that is that it fires a few more synapses than were made available to me during my decaffeinated phase. I seriously find myself able to wrap my head around complicated issues and bring them to resolution with aplomb in ways that I don’t remember experiencing over the past year.
Pictured above to the right is my current coffee dosage machine - the Keurig B70. This machine provides single-serve brewed coffee and does so with only one step of cleanup - throwing the K-cup away (the coffee “pod”). I decided that I needed a coffee maker that simplified my life and required no cleanup.
The beauty of the single-serve coffeemakers is that your coffee stays sealed in one-unit increments, so you can have a wide array of coffee flavors or roasts at your immediate disposal waiting on your kitchen shelf at any given time.
Caffeine is going to stay for a while.

I’m decafe at the mo. I find caffine to be a motivator rather than a smartener, having it makes it easier to slip into the zone for long runs of coding.
